Pre – MOT & Preparation
Standard cars require an MOT (Ministry of Transport) test on the third anniversary of their date of first registration (this can be found on the V5 registration document), and then annually after this.
A valid MOT certificate is a legal requirment and the purpose of an MOT test is make sure that the car being tested is roadworthy and safe to drive. An MOT will check tyres, brakes, lights, exhaust, emissions and fuel system, amongst other things. There are over 600 ways that a vehicle can fail. An MOT will not cover various parts of your car, including the clutch, gearbox and engine. Issues not covered can often be picked up by servicing your car regularly , which can prevent them developing into more serious and costly problems.
If your car fails your MOT, it’s important not to panic. The pass rate is c.60% and a car can fail for something as minor as a bald tyre or a faulty bulb.
Book your MOT with us and we can both service your vehicle, and perform a Pre-MOT Inspection, which usually points out any issues needing addressed.
If your car does need work we will explain everything to you in a clear and transparent way and will quote you for the work required. Our quotes are obligation free and you will be under no pressure to agree to the work.
